Students in grades 9 thru 11 who have been baptised Catholic are eligible to begin the Remote year (first year) of Confirmation preparation.
Students who are in the tenth grade or above, who have been baptized Catholic and who have adequate participation in religious education during the previous year are eligible to enter the Immediate year (second year) of preparation and to receive Confirmation upon completion of preparation.
Students in sixth thru twelfth grade, and with at least one year participation, may also prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist if needed.
Confirmation preparation is done within the context of the Sunday Youth Group. All candidates should be enrolled in the Sunday Youth Group. If you have questions, please contact the Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator.
Parents and sponsors participate along with the candidate in the preparation process. Workshops are provided which will provide parents and sponsors with theological information, spiritual renewal, and catechetical directives.
It is expected that every family involved in preparation for any of the Sacraments are actively participating in Sunday Liturgy. Individual readiness for the reception of sacraments will be determined by the pastor, the youth, the parents, and the CYM Coordinator.
The celebration of First Penance and Eucharist will be scheduled during the Easter Season. Confirmation will celebrated during a separate Confirmation liturgy during Easter.
