How to Help

All of our Religious Education Programs at Saint Patrick Catholic Church happen because of community members who step up and offer to share their faith with the children in the parish. Each of us is a child of God and has been given many gifts and talents.  It takes all of us together to build up the Body of Christ in our world.  That is why it takes many individuals working together to provide the children with a fun and faith-filled environment .Volunteers are needed to teach and assist, as well as attend to the behind the scene activities that happen every Sunday and Wednesday.

Catechist is the Greek term used to mean “one who echoes”, and in turn this person echoes the Word of God to others.   Catechists share their faith with others.

*Adult Catechists are needed to lead the teaching and share their faith and lived experiences with the children in the Religious Education Programs.

*Adult Assistants are also needed in each age group and classroom to help the primary Catechist in teaching the lesson and supervising the children.

*Teenagers who are in the 6th grade or older are also needed to assist with the children and also provide that “big brother or big sister” mentorship of sharing their faith and experiences with the children.

*Adult Office Assistants assist with the many facets that keep the religious education sessions running smoothly.  The duties include registration of children, various paperwork needs, copying worksheets for classes, handling attendance, assisting with the dismissal of children and answering questions for parents.

Assistance is also needed in many other areas including:

*Hall monitors for Sunday mornings

*Substitutes for Sunday morning or Wednesday evening Education Sessions

*Providing refreshments and/or baked goods for activities

*Catechists and Assistants for our 1st Penance and 1st Communion Preparation Sessions

*1st Communion and 1st Penance Celebrations

*Photography
