Human Concerns Committee,

an arm of the Parish Social Ministry Network

 

 

Because of the generosity of all who contribute to our parish offertory we are able to support the following ministries and organizations for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

 

AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center:           Amount funded:     $350

The group promotes sexual abstinence until marriage, sanctity of human life while assisting individuals facing the challenges or planned or unplanned pregnancies.

Agape Pregnancy Support Services:   Amount funded:  $400

“A life ministry providing counseling, spiritual support and physical support.” Assist with the purchase of training materials.

 

The Arc of Cumberland County:         Amount funded:     $400

Committed to working on behalf of children and adults with disabilities to improve their quality of life by helping navigate the systems that provide services.

 

Better Health:               Amount funded:     $1,100

Provides unmet health needs of low income Cumberland County residents through assistance, referral and education.  All funds go to client services.

 

Catholic Charities:                  Amount funded:     $9,600

Social service agency for the Fayetteville Deanery in the Diocese of Raleigh.  Provides direct services and assistance to its clients, many referred by Saint Patrick Catholic Church.  Assistance includes food, clothing for children and counseling.

The CARE Clinic:                   Amount funded:     $3,800

Provides free quality health care to eligible uninsured, low income residents of Cumberland County Help purchase medical and dental supplies, and prescription medications.

 

Center for Economic Empowerment and Development (formerly known as: The Women’s Center of Fayetteville)     Amount funded:     $800

Dedicated to the idea of helping individuals use their strength to fulfill their dreams of home ownership, education and employment and small business development.

 

Child Advocacy Center:       Amount funded:     $1,900

Mobilizes effective collaborative community approaches to child abuse and ways to provide a safe environment to child victims and their families.

Christ, Image of God:             Amount funded:     $350

Serves dinners to the homeless at the Mission in downtown Fayetteville every Sunday.

 

Contact of Fayetteville:         Amount funded:     $400

24 hour telephone help center for those in crisis.

 

Cumberland Interfaith Hospitality Network:

Amount funded:     $2,900

Provides a wide array of programs and services to homeless children and their families in Cumberland County including emergency shelter, transitional housing (such as our Nazareth House), and permanent housing.

 

Cumberland County Coordinating Council on Older Adults, Inc.                       Amount funded:     $400

Assist Senior citizens to stay in their homes as long as possible in safety and with dignity by getting federal matching funds and providing hot meals and a senior nutrition program.

Cumberland County Medication Access Program

Amount funded:     $2,700

Assist eligible low income Cumberland County residents in obtaining needed medications

Fayetteville Family Life Center:           Amount funded:     $750

Provides professional faith-based counseling to individuals, couples, and families based on need regardless of their financial resources

 

Fayetteville Right to Life:                       Amount funded:     $750

Educate the public concerning life-related issues, from pre-born to elderly through prayer, education and activism; assist with fees and educational materials.

 

Fayetteville Urban Ministries:             Amount funded:     $3,800

Show God’s compassion for our neighbors in need and thus build community together: Funds to help with the youth Find-a-Friend Program, school supplies, and adult literacy program

 

HomeWorks of Fayetteville:                Amount funded:     $3,000

Assisting youth in their spirit and civic development and empowering communities to meet the needs of its members while focusing on home repairs to those in need

 

The Salvation Army:             Amount funded:     $800

Helps those in need without discrimination; assistance designated for use for Love Lunches.

Secular Franciscan Order:        Amount funded:     $2,400

Provide direct assistance to needy families through ongoing aid and emergency assistance.  Members follow the Franciscan tradition of “begging” for alms.

St. Ann Neighborhood Youth Center:   Amount funded:     $2,840

Promoting excellence in education through tutoring, personal growth and services to others in a nurturing Christian environment; funds will assist with meals, field trips and transportation expenses.

 

Saint Patrick Respect Life Ministry:  Amount funded:    $600

Upholding a consistent ethic of life; funds to assist with transportation for March for Life in Raleigh and to purchase educational materials from the USCCB.

 

Stanton Hospitality House:                  Amount funded:     $400

Provide a place to stay for family members of patients being treated in a Fayetteville area medical facility

 

Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Plymouth, NC, our Sister Parish:

Amount funded:           $6,000

Habitat for Humanity

Amount funded:     $6,750

 

Parish Assistance to Individuals

Amount funded:     $8,000

Funds that we have available at the parish office which allows us to assist folks who come to our door for help
